The Walking Dead Is Google Play's Most Popular TV Show Of The Year

AMC's The Walking Dead was named Google Play's Most Popular TV Show of the Year, The Android Official Blog announced.

The success of the show shouldn't be surprising to many as it is television's highest rated series and consistently beats NFL Sunday Night Football in the ratings.

The Walking Dead returned for its fifth season in October 2014 on AMC. Based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics the series tells the story of the months and years after a zombie apocalypse and follows a group of survivors, led by sheriff Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home. The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Steven Yeun, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Melissa McBride, Emily Kinney, Danai Gurira, Chad L. Coleman, Sonequa Martin-Green, Michael Cudlitz and Lawrence Gilliard, Jr.

The Walking Dead returns with all new episodes in February.
