Comic book writer and novelist Warren Ellis announced today via his Twitter account that he will be onstage with investigative reporter Greg Palast to present Palast's book, Vultures' Picnic, which debuts in the UK in June. The event, titled An Evening With Greg Palast: Feasting With the 1%, will take place on June 26 at the ULU/University of London and feature Ellis, Penny Red, Anna Chen, Nick Dearden of Jubilee Debt Campaign and John Hilary of War on Want and more. Palast, a correspondent with BBC's Newsnight, is arguably as or more recognizable in the UK as he is in his native Manhattan, where he operates a non-profit organization dedicated to investigative journalism. Palast is currently working on Election Games: Billionaires & Ballot Bandits, due for release in July from 7 Stories Press which will include a comics component adapted from Palast's work by political cartoonist Ted Rall. This will be Palast's second foray into comics after 2008's Steal Back Your Vote, co-written with Robert Kennedy, Jr. and featuring art by Rall and others. A third comics project by Palast is expected in 2013, and was teased in the back pages of the U.S. release of Vultures' Picnic using art from Darick Robertson, Ellis' longtime collaborator on Transmetropolitan for DC's Helix and Vertigo imprints.
