XCOM 2 launched earlier this month, allowing players to joing the resistance and battle their way through the dystopian sequel to the Firaxis’s critically acclaimed tactical RPG XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

But a dystopia doesn’t imagine itself. Firaxis had to build their future from the ground up, and Insight Editions’ coffee table book The Art of XCOM 2 chronicles the creative process that went into the best 3D SRPG sinceโฆwell, since the last XCOM game.
Insight Editions sent us a copy of the book, which includes hundreds of sketches, character designs, environmental art, and more, plus firsthand accounts of the creation of XCOM 2 from the artists and designers who worked on it, offering insights into the decisions that went into crafting the player experience.
