Paramount is proving that history is doomed to repeat itself, as two of their most anticipated horror films in 2017 have fallen into scheduling disarray. World War Z is one of the most recent, and best, examples of a film mired by a complicated production schedule, as it was delayed for months due to reshoots, eventually costing hundreds of millions of dollars more than anticipated. Paramounts announcements about shifting schedules has also squashed hopes that we’d get to see a new Jason Voorhees movie this year, now with the whole production being thrown into question.

Variety reports that World War Z 2 will no longer be released this June, and did not offer an updated release date. Is this a continuation of troubles the first film had or merely a marketing strategy? The original film went on to make over $500 million worldwide, so the reshoots must have worked in the film’s favor, making it anyone’s guess as to why the film will be delayed.
Casting announcements recently went out in regards to the upcoming Friday the 13th film, but that film’s October 13 release date has been slashed, now with Darren Aronofsky and Jennifer Lawrence’s mother! now taking its place.
Does this mean the new Friday the 13th reboot has been delayed indefinitely or will it potentially be dumped in the first quarter of next year? Considering all of these delays and how long its been since a Friday the 13th film has been made, it’s possible Paramount could lose the rights to the franchise. Here’s hoping we don’t have to wait too much longer to see Jason come back from the dead.
