After all these years away from the franchise, it’s nice to know that Emma Watson remains true to her Hogwarts roots. And when it comes to fan-casted battles, she’ll always rep for Gryffindor.

While answering children’s questions on a video segment for Entertainment Weekly in promotion of Beauty and the Beast, the former Hermione Granger was given a stumper in the form of a “Who Would Win?,” a favorite pastime among many a geek.
But this cross-canon battle consisted of two heavy hitters in the worlds of Pottermore and the Star Wars saga.
“I wanted to know if there was a fight against Harry Potter and Darth Vader who would [win]?” a five-year-old fan asked.
Without hesitation, Watson responded in support of the home team.
“Harry Potter, definitely, obviously” she said, “You’re only going to get so far in life when you’re cold and dry and mean.”
Watson didn’t have any love for the Dark Sith Lord.
“You’re not going to win in the end. You’ll do fine, but you’re not going to win in the end,” Watson said.
OK, so it wasn’t the most detailed of explanations, nor did it go into the specifics of how their powers and skills would match up against each other, but it’s a poignant answer with poetic reason.
So we don’t need to talk about the minutiae of force choking and horocruxes and invisibility cloaks and lightsaber high grounds. You get a pass this time, Watson.
