Just in time for the Star Wars Celebration festivities, Marvel Comics has given fans a new look at the upcoming Star Wars: The Screaming Citadel #1. The book brings together Marvel’s popular Star Wars and Doctor Aphra series and kicks off a big five-part adventure.
“We’re so excited for The Screaming Citadel because it brings a whole new tone and feel to the Star Wars characters we know and love,” says series Editor Jordan D. White. “The titular citadel is our version of the dark and mysterious castle on the hill, and our cast of rebels and rogues are the adventurers who face a stormy night exploring the darkness. Kieron and Jason write these characters so vibrantly, it’s awesome to see them thrown into a new situation like thisโฆget ready for a good one!”

Star Wars: The Screaming Citadel #1 is written by Kieron Gillen with art by Marco Checchetto. Several variants will also launch with the book, including covers by Checchetto, Rod Reis, Chris Samnee, and Michael Walsh. Star Wars: The Last Jedi, from writer/director Rian Johnson, is in post-production now for a December 15, 2017, release. The film follows-up and continues the story of the next generation of the saga as Rey, Poe, Finn, and Kylo Ren find their place in the galaxy and follow the legacy of Luke Skywalker, Leia, and Han Solo. Daisy Ridley returns to star as Rey, with other returning stars John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Peter Mayhew, Andy Serkis, Anthony Daniels, Lupita Nyong’o Mark Hamill, and Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa. Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern join the cast in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi is slated for release on December 15, 2017.
