Fear the Walking Dead shocked the world on Sunday when it killed off the character fans expected to be the leader from the beginning. Cliff Curtis’ Travis Manawa was struck with a stray bullet as a helicopter attempted to fly him to Broke Jar Ranch.

While Travis’ killer has not yet been revealed, the Internet is already having their way with the shocking moment.

They’re not alone in their shock, either. Speaking to Madison Clark actress Kim Dickens, ComicBook.com learned the cast’s perspective of losing Curtis on Fear the Walking Dead.

“The whole cast, the family, I mean, all of us,” Dickens said. “I mean, but that’s the nature of these jobs, the nature of any job, but certainly the nature of this genre. Everyone is at risk, that’s the way it is.”

The Fans

Fans were completely caught off guard by Travis’ sudden death. Some, like the Abby Griffin in the Tweet above, couldn’t understand why he elected to jump from the helicopter after being shot.

Others were just purely shocked, but we hope the fan above’s phone survived its fall… Unlike Travis. Too soon?

Poor Alicia. She might have a whole bunch of fans but she just can’t seem to catch a break in this post-apocalyptic world. Her mother favors her brother and now she just watched her mother’s boyfriend die. Evolve, girl!

Then, The Walking Dead‘s Hershel Greene chimes in, adding to his epic prison speech, reminding Travis that “you jump without a parachute….you risk your life.”

Official Tweets

Of the Fear the Walking Dead cast members, the only actor to chime in regarding Travis’ death right away was Victor Strand actor Colman Domingo. “Devastated,” Domingo said in a tweet.

“The whole cast, the family, I mean, all of us,” Madison actress Kim Dickens told ComicBook.com. “I mean, but that’s the nature of these jobs, the nature of any job, but certainly the nature of this genre. Everyone is at risk, that’s the way it is.”

The official Fear the Walking Dead account sent condolences in the form of a shocked panic, similar to the audience’s common feeling, belting out, “No no no no no no no!” on Twitter.
