Before we get to predicting who is in the most danger for Sunday’s episode, the tenth of Fear’s second season, let’s run through a quick refresher of where all the characters found themselves the last we saw them.
The only character who seems to be finding sanctuary in the apocalypse is the former drug addict Nick Clark. The young man has joined a thriving (by post-apocalyptic standards) Tijuana community and is quickly become an integral part of their businesses and survival. His new friend Luciana also seems pretty well equipped to keep him safe.
The same can’t be said for his mother and sister. Madison is currently trapped behind a bar filled with blood thirsty zombies with Victor Strand at her side. Alicia is roaming the halls on her own, trying to find resources and safety in hotel rooms but also in search of the recently disappeared Ofelia.
Finally joining the show for the first time since the midseason break, the father-son duo of Travis and Chris were last seen isolating themselves from the rest of the group. Travis made the call to do so after Chris ran away and posed a threat as his unstable state of mind lead him to some questionable decisions which were putting others at risk.
So… Who’s in danger and who is safe heading into Do Not Disturb?
Madison- Danger. Trapped behind the bar and slightly intoxicated, Madison is not equipped for battle with walkers. Her loss would be a shocking turn of events for Fear which would force evolution upon her daughter.
Strand- Danger. Talking isn’t helpful when you’re trying to persuade the dead. Strand’s backed into a corner with Madison at his side but may not be able to find away out from that bar.
Alicia- Danger. Though her survival skills appear to be improving (as seen in a clip from Do Not Disturb), she has a history of bad choices on her resumรฉ and is currently rolling solo in a zombie infested hotel. Alicia’s death would do little to move an interesting plot but that doesn’t mean she’s not in a tough spot right now.
Ofelia- Safe. A transformation is coming for Ofelia. While Mercedes Mason teases it will either be one welcoming death or one bearing it on others, the latter seems more likely.
Nick- Safe. Sidelined for the episode, Nick will return in another episode. That said, he is still sitting in the safest scenario of all the core Fear characters.
Luciana- Not in danger, not safe. Also sidelined, Luciana finds herself in an interesting position for the next time we see. The gangsters who she deals with for supplies are currently unhappy with her because of Nick’s actions. Thriving communities never seem to do well when main Walking Dead characters pop into their lives (see: Alexandria, prisoners, CDC, Terminus cannibals…).
Travis- Danger. Reluctant to adopt a kill-to-survive attitude, Travis is in danger not only because of the threats the post-apocalyptic world presents to him but his son is unpredictable and dangerous.
Chris- Safe. Even being unpredictable and dangerous, Chris acts quickly and does what it takes to survive.
The second half of Fear‘s second season hasn’t seen any major characters offed just yet. The only deaths have been handed out to unnamed newcomers to the show. Do Not Disturb may see more of the same as the intensity ramps up towards the end of Fear‘s second season, something all fans of The Walking Dead shows are quite familiar with.
Fear the Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 PM ET on AMC.
