Since Daryl started wearing his “A” labeled jumpsuit in the third episode of The Walking Dead‘s seventh season, fans of the AMC series have been wondering the meaning of the letter. Thanks to The Walking Dead: The Complete Seventh Season blu-ray collection, the answer has been revealed.

On the commentary track for The Cell episode, Daryl Dixon actor Norman Reedus takes fans inside the episode from his perspective. Once the jumpsuit gets thrown on, he and writer Angela Kang reveal why his character is wearing such a get up and what that “A” stands for in Negan terms.

“It just means aโ€“hole,” Kang said, unsurprisingly simplifying Negan’s savage Savior group. “They’re being juvenile. Like an aโ€“hole and an F and an S for fโ€”face and sโ€”head.”

“I thought it meant Aquarius,” Reedus joked, appearing to have been unaware of the notion.

As it turns out, the jumpsuit was originally supposed to be a factory jumpsuit instead of sweats but showrunner Scott Gimple ruled against it as it resembled an iconic uniform from another popular TV series.”Scott thought it would look too much like LOST,” Kang said, in reference to LOST‘s Dharma Initiative costumes.

The meaning of Daryl’s “A” is hardly the only reveal attached to The Walking Dead: The Complete Seventh Season. On another track, executive producer Greg Nicotero reveals the true reason for Sasha’s death while heartbreaking deleted scenes take fans to a dream world where Glenn gets to live with his baby.
