Over on Instagram, the official The Walking Dead account dropped the first scene from the AMC series. It is the moment which introduced the world to Rick Grimes and the zombie apocalypse. In it, Rick has recovered from his coma and is journeying through Georgia, encountering walkers for the first times. After seeing a little girl, he calls to her, hoping she is alive.

The unforgettable little girl, played by Addy Miller, would turn around to reveal half of her face had been chewed off and she was a full-blown walker. In truly devastating and violent fashion, Rick Grimes would pull out his python pistol and shoot her in the head. It was only the beginning of what would become the biggest show on cable.

Check out the scene below.

“The moment when Rick realized how much the world had changed,” the post is captioned, with a hashtag for “#TWD100.” It’s safe to expect more iconic scenes being release in anticipation of The Walking Dead‘s biggest episode yet.

The first episode of The Walking Dead, Days Gone Bye, aired on Halloween in 2010. The series launched as an adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s comic book series which remains in print today. In fact, the 170th issue of the Image Comics/Skybound series hit comic shop shelves this week.

At the time of premiering, Frank Darabont was serving as showrunner on The Walking Dead, and VFX guru Greg Nicotero was just that and had never directed an episode. Now, Scott Gimple helms the series and Nicotero has directed 20 episodes, some of which are the most unforgettable of the series, in addition to becoming an executive producer with Gale Anne Hurd, Tom Luse, and Denise Huth.

The series also spawned a spinoff series on AMC titled Fear the Walking Dead which is currently rolling through its third season, in addition to several video game titles and even a cookbook.

Fear the Walking Dead returns September 10. The Walking Dead will return for its eighth season on October 22, 2017. For complete coverage and insider info all season long, follow @BrandonDavisBD on Twitter.
