The Walking Dead: Who Are The Scavengers?

If you watched The Walking Dead, you learned that there was a new brand new group entering the lives of Rick and the others.

While there wasn’t a ton of information about the group – even after they brokered a deal with Rick – they are a group comic readers may be familiar with.

Back in issue #75, Glenn and Heath were out on a run. They came across a small group of people who called themselves The Scavengers. These folks took what they could, but didn’t have much regard for human life.

In their first moments on the page, they sacrificed one of their own in order to escape a bunch of walkers.

When it came time to fight these Scavengers, Heath and Glenn lured them back to Alexandria and got the help of the others.

The group doesn’t bear much to the one seen on The Walking Dead series, but actress Pollyanna McIntosh revealed on Talking Dead that they were, in fact, the same group.

In the comics, the leader’s name is Derek. McIntosh revealed that, when she auditioned, the casting department was looking for either a man or woman to fill the role.
