What Game Is Eugene Playing On The Walking Dead?

WARNING: Spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead‘s latest episode, ‘Hostiles And Calamities‘.

This week’s episode of The Walking Dead finds Eugene trying to make a new life at the Sanctuary. It was thought he would be kept like a prisoner with Negan, but Eugene is being treated a little bit more like a celebrity.

Negan has given him his own room, and sends a few of his wives to show Eugene a good time. The guy even has video games to play.

When the wives are first seen in Eugene’s room, he’s shown explaining a video game to them. An old-school game is on the screen, and Eugene – not surprisingly – knows all about it.

The game is called Yar’s Revenge, and he’s playing it on the Atari 2600. After the game was released for the console in the year of 1982, it went on to become th highest-selling game for the entire platform.

The game is about an alien called Yar, who’s trying to battle his way through a wall, in order to kill the evil Qotile.

The synopsis is definitely one of the nerdiest things anyone has ever heard, so it makes total sense that Eugene would know all about it. Being one of the most popular games in the history of Atari, it makes total sense that someone would have held onto a copy through the apocalypse.
