The Walking Dead returns for its seventh season in six weeks. When it does, you can bet that some of the characters whose hearts are still beating will lose that pulse before the next eight episode run concludes.

Season 7 has already seen several main characters bow out. Most noteably, we lost Glenn and Abraham but the season premiere deaths were not the only ones. Throughout the first half, we’ve also said goodbye to Spencer, Olivia, and Fat Joey (and possibly Heath).

With Rick Grimes finally rallying the troops in the second half in what will inevitably be a war against Negan and the Saviors, the reaper will never be further than the nearest corner. If you’re of the crowd hoping to seeing Negan killed in the next batch of episodes or even seasons, you’re likely going to be out luck.

On the following slides, we pair a few expectations with knowledge of Robert Kirkman’s comics to reveal our expectations for who is sent off next.

Be warned, potential spoilers follow!

Sasha

Sasha has nothing to lose. Furthermore, she has already shown obvious signs of filling in for the comic book role of Holly.

In the comics, Holly is dating Abraham at the time of his death. Bent of revenge against the Saviors, she sacrifices herself during a battle with the villainous group by plunging a school bus into their defenses. She doesn’t die there, though. Instead, Negan catches her and she is kept at the Sanctuary until she is eventually brought back to Alexandria with a bag on her head. After being handed over, the bag is removed and it is revealed that Holly has reanimated as a zombie.

If Sasha is to continue playing the part of Holly, her death at the hands of Negan will be inevitable. Her sense of having nothing to lose with only revenge on her mind is already on display.

Outside of the storyline, Sonequa Martin-Green was recently cast on CBS’ new Star Trek series. Playing key characters on two shows would pose a major scheduling conflict.

David

One member of the Saviors who is a sure bet to be killed off is David.

In the comics, David attempts to rape Holly while she is being held captive at the Sanctuary. Negan, having a strict no-rape policy, catches David in the act and promptly stabs him in the neck with a knife.

David has already shown signs of being a creep on television. The character found some sort of joy in tormenting Enid, Alexandria’s only teenage girl. He’ll almost definitely realize his comic book fate sooner than later.

Simon

If Rick’s group is going to strike the Saviors, they have to take out at least one big player in Negan’s bunch.

Daryl has already taken out Fat Joey in a move which Negan has yet to discover but Joey is not as highly ranked in Negan’s army as Simon. Simon has his own territories. Simon is the right-hand man.ย

If Rick is able to capture of kill Simon, the Saviors (and the audience) will see that Alexandria, the Hilltop, and the Kingdom are finally done messing around. It’s time to go to war!

Morgan

Looking at Carol and Morgan’s journey, they both appear to be safe. With both of them evolving in recent seasons, such development typically spells disaster.ย

Carol’s arc appears to be one which will see her redeemed and finding a balance between her nonstop killing attitude and Morgan’s never-killing philosophy. If she is to stick around and fulfill such a role, it’s unlikely Morgan Jones will do so with her.

Switching Carol into Michonne’s role for love-insterest to King Ezekiel built an entirely new world of story for the character. In the comics, Carol committed suicide well before the equivalent story point reached on television. Her story had played out.

Morgan, on the other hand, is also dead in the comics. His story appears to be largely played out with the exception of influencing Carol’s future. Likely to receive an emotional send-off, possibly sacrificing himself for someone else in true Morgan fashion, Morgan will be reunited with his wife and son last seen in Season 1.
