A couple summers ago, Netflix found an enormous and unprecedented success with the addition of USA’s long-running courtroom drama Suits. Despite ending its near-decade run in 2019, the series quickly stormed to the top of Netflix’s streaming rankings and stayed on the charts for months. An already-ended law dramedy somehow became one of the most-watched TV shows in Netflix’s history, a streaming victory that isn’t likely to be repeated. However, a new addition to Netflix’s lineup could follow in Suits’ footsteps and provide another big win.

Monday, September 1st saw Netflix add all four seasons of the hit TNT courtroom series Franklin & Bash. Starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer, Franklin & Bash aired 40 total episodes over the course of four years, and each of those episodes is now available to stream on Netflix.
Why Franklin & Bash Is Perfect for Suits Fans
The whole courtroom element of Franklin & Bash will obviously connect with anybody who binged through Suits on Netflix, but another big reason why the show appealed to so many people was its breezy nature. In the era of “prestige TV,” there aren’t many big shows that keep up a lighthearted approach to storytelling. Most hour-long programs are emotionally intense and require a lot more of the audience from episode to episode.
Franklin & Bash, like Suits, has that relaxed and fun-loving attitude we used to crave from TV shows. If anything, it’s even a little more on the comedic side than Suits. There aren’t quite as many episodes to watch with Franklin & Bash, but it’ll deliver the same type of result for viewers.
Netflix Just Added a Bunch of New Titles
Franklin & Bash was just one of the many titles added to Netflix at the start of September, but it does feel as though it has the potential to be one of the month’s potential breakouts for the service. That said, one of the other new addition TV titles, Orphan Black, is already making waves on Netflix’s Top 10 TV Shows list.
Most of September’s new additions, at least so far, have been feature films. Some of the new arrival movies include The Amazing Spider-Man, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Shrek, Paddington, Bridesmaids, and Escape Room.
If you end up enjoying Franklin & Bash, you may find that very few of the other new additions are able to match the show’s breezy tone. Jim Carrey’s Liar Liar does stand out as being similar, given its comedy and connection to the courtroom. Perhaps the most like Franklin & Bash, however, are the two Sherlock Holmes movies starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. These action adventures are much bigger than TNT’s law comedy, but the dynamic between Downey’s Holmes and Law’s Watson will give you some big Franklin & Bash vibes.
