Riverdale returns back to our television screens tonight, but it sounds like we won’t be seeing a certain guest star anytime soon.

In a recent interview with Glamour magazine, Cole Sprouse addressed the possibility of his twin brother, Dylan, making an appearance on the hit The CW series. And to some fans’ dismay, the actor, who plays Jughead Jones, revealed that there’s zero chance of it happening.
“Zero.” Sprouse explained. “Absolutely zero. I wouldn’t want it, Dylan would never do it, and I think it would break fourth wall too much. A lot of my fans from [The Suite Life of Zack and Cody] still come up and say, ‘This would be fun!’ I think it would just be silly. It would be super, super weird and totally not appropriate. I also just don’t think Dylan wants to; to be honest, I wouldn’t want to either.”
The idea of Dylan appearing on Riverdale has been a running joke for quite some time, with fans creating plenty of memes of the actor as Jughead’s sister, Jellybean. Still, Cole says he’s honored by the clamoring from fans – just that it would be too much of a distraction on the show.
“People want to see us onscreen together again, and that’s fine. That’s flattering, I guess. But if it’s going to destroy the kind of world that we’ve built [on Riverdale], it’s wildly inappropriate.”
The interviewer then suggested that Dylan could play Jughead’s long-lost brother, a trope that has already been on full display in Riverdale. But as Cole put it, that would just further complicate what audiences already know about Jughead.
“Listen, I’ve already got a mom and a sister that we’ve never seen, which I’m sure eventually will make an entrance.” Sprouse added. “So I already got enough family to deal with here!”
Riverdale season two airs Wednesday nights at 8/7c on The CW.
