It goes without saying that Archie would be the most affected by the events of the finale, and he appears to have trouble coping in Season Two. A brief shot shows him wielding a baseball bat in his kitchen in the middle of the night, as if he’s warding off an intruder.
Veronica seems like she’ll try and help him cope with a some sexy time in the shower. Looks like this show is doubling down on the sex appeal for the new slate of episodes.
Jughead is dressed in an apron and appears to be taking a job at Pop’s, hinting that he might not be entering into the family trade with the Southside Serpents after all.
And Betty looks like she’s making nice with Cheryl, while also hopping on Jughead‘s new motorcycle (!!!!) for a leisurely stroll around the block.
All of this is underscored by some tragic imagery, including a quick shot of Fred Andrews wearing an oxygen mask and another of the gunman storming into what looks like a wedding while brandishing his firearm.
And at the end of it all, Archie Andrews calls his mom and tells that he needs help.
At the end of Season One, Molly Ringwald‘s character Mary Andrews returns to her family despite being separated from her husband. Though they appear to be mending their relationship, she returns back home to Chicago and begs Archie to return with her, saying Riverdale isn’t safe anymore.
That points pretty interesting, because Chicago isn’t exactly safe either.
Regardless, the series looks to be dealing with Fred Andrews being shot in a very direct way, and the mystery of the masked gunman is shaping up to be this year’s “who killed Jason Blossom?”
We’ll learn more when Riverdale returns to The CW on Wednesday, October 11.
