Teen Titans GO Star Shockingly Says They’ve Been Fired By Warner Bros.

One Teen Titans GO! star shockingly claims they have been fired by Warner Bros. after publicly revealing their Parkinson’s Disease diagnosis. Teen Titans has surprisingly been one of the most successful animated projects ever released by Warner Bros. Not only was the original incarnation of the animated series a hit with fans back in 2003, but it has since gone on to a whole new life with the debut of a major reboot with Teen Titans GO! This version of the franchise has gone for over 400 episodes (and a movie) for over a decade, and even includes the same voice stars from that 2003 incarnation.

Beast Boy voice actor Greg Cipes, who has been with the franchise since its 2003 debut, revealed earlier this year that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. But following a viral post on social media seemingly reporting he had been fired from the series from gunnverse on Instagram, Cipes claims that Warner Bros. had fired him after revealing his diagnosis, “Warner Brothers literally fired me on Valentine’s Day right after I publicly shared my Parkinson’s diagnosis.”

Beast Boy Star Greg Cipes Claims He Was Fired By Warner Bros.

Cipes not only shared that comment with gunnverse’s original Instagram post reporting that he had been fired from Teen Titans Go! after over 20 years with the animated franchise, but stated, “It’s like a death to me that only the fans can bring back to life” in response to the situation. As reported further by The Wrap, their source close to the situation states that there is a different angle to the situation as Cipes has not been fired from the series, but instead states that he had been fired because “his performance was not up to the level that producers needed for Beast Boy.

The Wrap‘s source also claims that Cipes initially was offered a different role by Warner Bros. when they initially approached the star about stepping down from the role due to issues with his performance. They offered to create a brand new character for the star, and talks had begun with his agent on a development deal to keep him involved with the franchise. Their source also states that this development deal is still being negotiated, while Cipes has already recorded a few scripts with this new character.

What Will Happen to Beast Boy?

Warner Bros. Animation / DC Studios

Cipes has not only voiced Beast Boy in Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go!, but he’s become the recognizable voice of the character in the 2000s and beyond, with additional performances in shows like Young Justice and Beast Boy: Lone Wolf. It’s highly likely that when DC animation fans think of the character, they’ll imagine Cipes’ voice. But this is a situation that might get a lot messier before it gets better. With Cipes claiming he’s been ousted from the series, it seems there are some other legal issues and more that will need to be ironed out for the future of Teen Titans GO!

It also seems like Warner Bros. is moving forward with a new actor for Beast Boy for the future of the franchise, but one has yet to be announced as of the time of these initial reports. Warner Bros. themselves have also yet to comment on the situation, so there are still many questions fans will have for Teen Titans Go!‘s fate. If the franchise does indeed continue, there likely will be a new voice actor cast with a performance that closely resembles Cipes’ work, as seen with other notable Warner Bros. animated franchise recasts like Rick and Morty.
