Spoilers for season one of Westworld below!

HBO‘s Westworld quickly became one of last year’s biggest breakout hits, through chronicling the events at a fantasy theme park populated by android ‘hosts’. And now, it appears that one of the show’s many cast members has received an extended stay.

Deadline is reporting that Talulah Riley has been promoted to a series regular in the show’s upcoming second season. The actress – who has previously been seen in Doctor Who and Inception – appeared in a recurring role in Westworld‘s first season, playing host Angela in six of the ten episodes.

With the first season’s finale suggesting a more host-centric sophomore season, it makes perfect sense that Riley would be involved in a larger capacity. Angela was briefly seen in the all-out massacre within the episode’s final moments, and a section of Deadline’s press release ominously hints that she will have a hand in the carnage of future episodes.

“Riley will continue as Angela, the host whose beatific face welcomed guests to Westworld for decades. She will prove to be one of the last faces many guests will ever see.”

Angela also had a more subtle significance in the first season, for her apparent connection to The Man In Black (Ed Harris). After coming face-to-face with him in the middle of the season, fans began to theorize that the characters’ first meeting had already been shown onscreen, when Angela escorted William (Jimmi Simpson) through the entrance of the park. This was one of the first major hints to the ‘Two Timelines’ theory – that William and The Man In Black were the same character at separate points in time – which was ultimately proven true in the season finale.

With Angela already having this much significance in the world of Westworld, fans are sure to welcome her being featured in a larger role in the future when the series returns in 2018.
