Goldberg returning to the WWE for one last match with Brock Lesnar has actually gone rather well despite a few hiccups, mostly of the in the ring variety. One such hiccup occurred on Monday Night Raw and is another reminder that it’s been 12 years since Goldberg last operated in the ring.

His most recent altercation with several security guards in an in-ring segment evidently resulted in Goldberg hurting his shoulder. Goldberg recently described the injury and his overall health status to SEScoops.com.

“My body feels horrible. I tweaked my shoulder last night (on Raw), but that doesn’t mean in five days that I’m not going to come out kicking ass and taking names like I always do.”

Goldberg has remained in stellar physical shape, but there’s a difference between being in shape and being in ring shape, something he’s learning rather quickly. So far he’s only going against Rusev briefly and a few security guards, which is nothing compared to what will be demanded and expected from him in the ring with Lesnar. Hopefully, he can shake some addition ring rust off before Sunday, but that isn’t very likely at this point.

Steve Austin recently commented on Goldberg’s return thus far, a return that has been successful mostly because of the solid and authentic promos he’s delivered since he came back.

“It was about the crowd responding in such great fashion,” Austin said of Goldberg’s 2016 return. “I’m not sure Goldberg is the greatest promo guy that ever walked the planet that did business in the squared circle, but an A+ promo by Bill Goldberg handling the task at hand, all those emotions, it was completely real and authentic. I felt it was a great piece of television.”
