John Cena is bringing his brand of “Never Give Up” to the stage of Saturday Night Live, and the studio has released the first promo from his upcoming hosting gig.

The promo feels like an entrance down the Smackdown Live or Monday Night RAW ramp, though just with less people in the audience. He slides onto the stage and holds up his brand new and customized SNL heavyweight championship belt, though it is worth mentioning that it indeed does not spin.
He calls out the cast of SNL with one noteworthy exception, that being the hilarious Leslie Jones, who makes a point to compliment towards the end. You can watch the new SNL promo above.
Cena is hosting alongside musical guest Maren Morris, while next week will finish out the SNL season with Casey Affleck and Chance The Rapper.
As for Cena, he’s been making the rounds on shows like SNL and Late Night With Seth Meyers, but there are those wondering when he’ll step into a WWE ring again. He’s currently away from television at the moment while he finishes filming his second season of American Grit, and he’s also joined the cast of The Pact, which will also star Leslie Mann and Ike Barinholtz. Some are hopeful he’ll be involved with either The Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania, but the more time he is away the less likely that looks.
It’s ironic that he’s made a habit of criticizing other wrestlers who aren’t at tapings and live events all the time, namely The Rock and reportedly Brock Lesnar and Goldberg, and now he’s frequently absent from the daily grind.
John Cena takes the stage this Saturday, December 10.
