Only two weeks after being dealt to RAW, The Miz and Maryse have taken over Monday Nights. The duo have quickly rode their WrestleMania momentum into becoming centerpieces for the WWE‘s flagship show. Putting Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho in their place is not the only thing that has been keeping The A-Lister busy these days as The Miz is also out promoting his role in WWE Studios film, The Marine 5: Battleground, which is available today on DVD.

The fifth installment of the successful WWE franchise once again features The Miz as former Marine, Jake Carter, who is protecting an ex-convict from a ruthless biker gang. The film also stars WWE superstars, Curtis Axel, Heath Slater, Bo Dallas, Naomi and Maryse. In anticipation of its April 25th DVD release date, The Miz gave an exclusive interview to Comicbook.com praising his WWE co-stars which you can read here.
The Miz also spoke with us about his work inside the ring as we discussed his uncanny ability to make each and every one of his on-screen feuds feel so personal. The Miz revealed that blurring the lines between entertainment and reality was very intentional.
“Every single time. I think fans need to look at it and pick a side. You call people out on things that you think the fans will latch on to, and if you make it real it will feel real. I try to make everything feel real for me and if it feels real to me, guess what, the audience is going to feel it as well and they’re going to be more captivated into my match. Into our match.
When people heard that John Cena and Nikki Bella were going to face The Miz and Maryse, people were not excited about it. They wanted to see John Cena and The Undertaker. They wanted to see me in the WWE Championship realm, but we gave them something that literally stole the show at WrestleMania. If you look at the story that built up, people were talking about that match more than a lot of other matches and that’s what I really strive to do now a days is make sure that my match is the most must-see, most watched and people just want to pick it apart.”

When asked if he had ever said anything that went a little too far, The Mizย said he usually doesn’t know what is going to come out of his mouth.
“I black out. When I kind of start going and start spouting off at the mouth, 90% of the time I don’t know what I just said. I have to go watch it back to see and my mouth just goes. It’s hard to explain. When my mouth starts going, my brain filters it through and lets things fly out and half the time I don’t know what I’m saying and I’m just going. It’s all pure adrenaline.”
One of The Miz’sย biggest adversaries over his career has been SmackDownย Live General Manager, Daniel Bryan. The Mizย blew away the WWEย Universe with his verbal attack on Bryan last year on Talking Smackย and he has continued to taunt the retired formerย WWEย Champion by using muchย of his signature offense moves.ย We asked Mizย if he still held out any hope for a future match with Bryan and unsurprisingly, the answer was YES!ย ย ย
“Of course, are you kidding me? To get him back in the ring and beat him, that would be great.”
Now back on Raw, Mizย told us who he was most excited to step in the ring with.
“The Universal Champion. I want the championship. I need a title. I need the WWEย Universal title and one of the main reasons is that it’s the only one I haven’t held.”
While The Mizย has accomplished nearly everything once could accomplish in aย WWEย career, including defeating John Cenaย in the main event of WrestleManiaย 27, heย revealed what goals still motivate him.ย
“Main event WrestleMania. Every time you go to WrestleManiaย you want to be the main event, the main talk. You want people to be looking at you on the Grandest Stage Of Them All. Even right now on Monday Night Raw,ย my goal is to be in the main event of WrestleManiaย next year.”ย
The Mizย will kick-off this Sunday’s WWEย Payback pay per view with a special Mizย TV featuring Finn Balorย as his guest.
The Marine 5: Battlegroundย is out on digital now, and is available on Blu-ray and DVD today, April 25, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and WWE Studios.
