Kurt Angle is considered one of the greatest wrestlers of his generation. For some, he is the greatest of all time. For seven years, he served as one of the cornerstones of excellence in the WWF/E. He is a Grand Slam Champion, King of the Ring winner, main evented WrestleMania XIX, and has gone against the best that the company had to offer.

Then, he left in a self-imposed exile to rebuild his brand and to go against a new breed of wrestler in TNA Wrestling in 2006. For Angle to join the upstart company was the biggest news of the year and for almost a decade, he was TNA's biggest star outside of AJ Styles. There are rumblings though of Angle's return to the WWE in some capacity and with his time in TNA at an end, this could be a whole new start for the Olympic Hero.

Kurt was featured on Mark Madden's Pittsburgh-based radio program on Monday to promote the upcoming "Legends of Wrestling Night" sponsored by the Pittsburgh Pirates on June 22nd and talked about his legacy and what could be the next chapter in his legendary career.

Angle mentioned he was on good terms with WWE and the McMahon Family, and says he sat down with both Vince McMahon and Triple H regarding his comeback about six weeks ago. He says he doesn't have any idea what's going to happen in terms of the brand split.

He also said that he would like to end his career with WWE, and the need to fill two rosters has given him an opportunity to make his return. Madden claimed Kurt can work just as well as he did when he left in 2006, and Kurt says he's worked a few matches since leaving TNA to ward-off any ring rust (one of those was against former WWE star Cody Rhodes). He makes specific mention of his matchup with Zack Sabre Jr., saying that he's well on his way to becoming one of the "top three talents in the world."

Angle also said that if he wasn't in the ring in some way shape or form, he would love to be NXT's American Alpha's manager. They've been rumored to join up to the main roster as of late since their recent lost to The Revival at NXT: TakeOver. Since AA is essentially Kurt's original gimmick, it would be a solid transition for him.

Now, regarding his health, Angle says that he feels good, but admits he had a severe drug problem while working for WWE. He said that he "needed to get out" and went to TNA, where he was able to rehabilitate himself but also to continue his career.

"If you want me to have 5-star matches, I need to have time off and not be on the road a hundred days every year," he said. Angle credits Diamond Dallas Page and his DDP Yoga with helping him to feel as good as he once did. He said that without his regular yoga regiment, he wouldn't be able to wrestle at all, much less how he used to back in the day.

Should Angle return to the WWE, he would possibly one of several who are invited back to help expand the roster once the WWE Draft takes place. The rumored names that are circulating are, of course, Angle, MVP, Rey Mysterio, Jeff Hardy, Carlito, and Goldberg. Such deals are reported to be 2-3 years for full-timers, but imagining Angle back in the ring giving us that one more match would be simply amazing.
