One of the best RAW main events in recent memory ended in shambles tonight as The Miz became the new number one contender to Dean Ambrose’s Intercontinental Championship.

Earlier in the night, Dean Ambrose somehow talked Seth Rollins and Finn Balor out of their Universal Championship ambitions and placed them in a triple threat match with The Miz for his Intercontinental Championship.
The momentum shifted back and forth between each of the three men throughout the bout until a spot that saw Balor dropkicking Rollins into a DDT with The Miz in tow caused the WWE Universe to rightfully break out the “This Is Awesome” chant.
Balor then went on a run that reminded fans why the inaugural Universal Champion was pushed so fast upon his debut to the main roster last year. Several near falls had the crowd on its feet including a five star frog splash from Rollins to Balor and a superplex/falcon arrow combo to Miz that had the WWE Universe losing their minds.
As the end approached, Samoa Joe came from the crowd to take out Seth Rollins. Minutes later Wyatt began his feud with Finn Balor by tossing him from the top rope and hitting him with Sister Abigail to make him easy pickings for the A-Lister to nab the victory.

The loss was Balor’s first defeat on the main roster.
While the interferences set up three future storylines, it was a bit of a shame to not get a clean finish after such an epic match – but such is the life of a wrestling fan.
Twitter reacted to the Raw main event with mostly glowing results, but some felt bothered by the finish. Here are the best reactions of the night.

That was undoubtably one of the best finishes on #Raw in a long time.
