2016 has not been kind to the main event scene in the WWE. With injuries taking out some of their biggest stars like John Cena, Randy Orton, and Bray Wyatt, it’s good to know that former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins is looking to return soon.

WWE CEO and chairman Vince McMahon said during a conference call to discuss the company’s first quarter earnings Tuesday that Seth Rollins, Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt are all set to return sometime in the next month. Rollins, currently filming the WWE Studios movie Temple, alongside Wesley Snipes, will finish wrapping before heading back.

“Creative talent, in terms of our status there, we’ve had a lot of injuries, even coming into WrestleMania,” McMahon said. “We made some pretty good chicken salad out of that. Coming in the next 30 days many of our stalwarts are coming back into the fold. There are approximately 17 that have been injured that are coming back including Randy Orton, Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, John Cena and so many others.”

All of these returns are great news for WWE, but has embraced these absences with stride as they have elevated NXT talent to the main roster spotlight to lessen the burden. While knowing Rollins is close to returning might diminish some of the surprise factor away, but the tension for him coming back has been building up so much in recent weeks that his return will cause a major pop from the crowd.

Now remember,Rollins never technically lost the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Rollins tore his right ACL, MCL and medial meniscus during a match in Ireland last November, and was forced to vacate. He was expected to be out for six to nine months, which times his return in June pretty accurately.

So where do you put him when he returns? There are two solid routes they could go.

One being an automatic championship title shot. It’s only fair that Rollins gets a shot at reclaiming his throne as the top dog in the company and it would be even more fitting if we get the Rollins vs. Roman Reigns match that has been hyped for a while. Reigns is on a good roll as of late, but we’ll see how things fare at this month’s Extreme Rules, but those two have unfinished business that never got dealt with appropriately.

The other way they could push him is feuding with The Authority and finally get a match with Triple H down the line. Triple H recently signed another three years as a wrestler so it would seem that only big time matches would apply. Rollins could feel that The Authority let him down and wasn’t there for him during his time of need.

Either way, the main event scent is drying up, which meant that lesser stars had to step up their game. Even Sheamus was feuding with Roman a few months ago and now he can’t even get a United States Title match. The sudden push of AJ Styles was surprising for even long-time fans of his, but has definitely elevated his stock in the company. Rollins’ return couldn’t have come at a better time.
