Creed's Tessa Thompson is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a very big way. Deadline is reporting that Thompson is joining the cast of Thor: Ragnarok as Thor's new love interest. While the report doesn't specify who Thompson is playing, her character is allegedly a "kind of superhero" who will then appear in future Marvel movies.

Thompson joins a cast that includes Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston. Mark Ruffalo will also reprise his role as Bruce Banner/The Incredible Hulk in the movie. Cate Blanchett is rumored to play Ragnarok's unnamed villain, who many speculate will be the Enchantress.

Thompson currently stars in the HBO series Westworld, alongside her future Thor cast member Anthony Hopkins. She'll also appear opposite Thor actress Natalie Portman in the upcoming movie Annihilation. Thompson previously spoke to ComicBook.com last November about her hopes of playing a superhero in an upcoming film. When asked if she were interested in appearing in a superhero movie, Thompson told ComicBook.com " I didn't used to, and I think recently I've gotten really into the genre and also realized some of the challenges it presents."

Thor: Ragnarok will be released on November 3, 2017.
