'Avengers: Infinity War': Karen Gillan Hints There's a Reason Nebula Wasn't in the Trailer

If you're still wondering why Guardians of the Galaxy's Nebula didn't appear in the Avengers: Infinity War trailer, there is apparently a very good reason.

In a recent interview with RadioTimes.com, Karen Gillan explained her character's absence from the film's highly-anticipated trailer. While Gillan revealed that her not appearing wasn't entirely what she expected, she hinted that there's a pretty good narrative reason for it.

"I wasn't really disappointed because also it sort of makes sense. It makes sense!" Gillan explained. "How do I say this without giving anything away? It makes sense. I feel like Nebula might be in future trailers."

While fans don't entirely know Nebula's role in the film, Gillan hinted that it will be a culmination of her Marvel Cinematic Universe arc so far - particularly her beef with her adopted father, Thanos (Josh Brolin).

"It's gonna be so good!" Gillan hinted. "A lot of stuff that we have planted in previous films is going to all come together in quite an explosive way, I would say. Daddy issues will be faced. Thanos is the big bad guy, the ultimate supervillain, so this is the biggest fight that the Avengers will ever have. And being his daughter, Nebula will get entwined in there somehow."

Gillan has been pretty open - well, as open as she can be, considering Marvel's secrecy - about Nebula's role in the galaxy-trotting film. She's hinted that the role will involve exploring even more of her backstory, and that she hopes that it will culminate in Nebula's The Infinity Gauntlet comic storyline.

Avengers: Infinity War premieres on May 4, 2018, and the untitled Avengers sequel follows on May 3, 2019.
