Age of Apocalypse

With X-Men: Days of Future Past officially arriving in theaters today, fans are already looking forward to the sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse. The film will feature one the X-Men's biggest bads, Apocalypse, and will draw inspiration from one of the best X-Men stories to feature the character, Age of Apocalypse. Some fans might be wondering why they decided to name the movie X-Men: Apocalypse instead of just sticking with the Age of Apocalypse title. Editor and composer John Ottman explains that was the original plan, but that the title was sort of crowded out. "I know they wanted to call the film Age of Apocalypse," Ottman tells Yahoo, "but they couldn't because there's some other film coming out around the same time called "Age of" something and they didn't want to make it sound like the exact same title. They decided that would be lame so they just called it Apocalypse. Ottman's not wrong about that title scheme. In about a month, Transformers: Age of Extinction will be arriving in theaters. Next May will see the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron. I guess the one year gap between Age of Ultron and the next X-Men film felt a little too close for comfort for 20th Century Fox. X-Men: Apocalypse comes to theaters May 27, 2016.
