Residents of London, New York, and Toyko might have noticed some new Pokemon Go ads and Poke Stops this week. As part of its upcoming one year anniversary, Pokemon Go announced it was celebrating the efforts of its top cities with new ads and billboards.

Niantic announced a "Pokemon Go City Celebrations" ad campaign, which features localized ads announcing the accomplishments of various cities. For example, an ad in New York mentions that Pokemon Go players in New York catch over 16 million Pokemon daily, while an ad in London references the 354 Mr. Mime caught in a specific city.

Many of the billboards have also been turned into Poke Stops sponsored by Niantic, so that players can collect items when they see the billboards around town.

While the ad campaign is currently limited to New York, Toyko, and London, Niantic noted they have plans to roll out ads in other cities throughout the summer. You can check out what the ads look like in the photo gallery above!

The new campaign appears to be part of Pokemon Go's big summer plans, which is designed in part to bring back lapsed players. Not only is Pokemon Go planning its first ever live event in Chicago next month, they're also planning a rework of their gym system and announced plans for other "collaborative gameplay features."

Pokemon Go is also working with Apple to roll out revamped AR features for the game.

If you live in a big city, keep your eye out for Pokemon Go ads like the ones in the photo gallery!
