A representative for Taylor Swift tells Gossip Cop that despite rumors and hints otherwise, the pop star and occasional actress is not making a cameo in X-Men: Apocalypse. The rumors are "not true," the rep said, simply, according to the website's angrily-worded report.

Fuel had been thrown on the Swift-rumor fires thanks to an instagram post by Sophie Turner, who plays Jean Grey in the film, which showed an Easter Egg featuring mutant pop star character Dazzler. In the post, Turner also wrote "That time Cyclops and I went shopping at the mall and found our favorite singer's album (pre 1989, of course)," and the reference to 1989 - Swift's birth year and the title of her most successful album, made several people make the connection. While Turner hasn't clarified herself, she was probably simply saying Swift is her favorite singer now.

A photo of Swift with cast and crew posted last year during principal photography was the first appearance of the rumor. Writer/producer Simon Kinberg actually debunked that rumor back in September, explaining that the picture was simply taken backstage at her concert, and he's a big fan.

While Swift may be a good fit to play the disco and pop-fueled mutant superstar Dazzler, it appears she's not doing it in Apocalypse. Dazzler does exist in that universe, though, thanks to the Easter Egg, so maybe all these rumors will lead to Swift joining up for a future installment.

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters May 27, 2016.
