We're just over a week away from seeing Danny Rand make his live-action debut and while we won't be seeing him in his classic costume anytime soon, costume designer Stephanie Maslansky says she did draw inspiration from the classic green and gold look when it came to outfitting Danny.
In a recent interview with Forbes, Maslansky said that while it wasn't difficult making a contemporary look for Iron Fist, the Living Weapon is still the most unusual looking character we've seen on Netflix.

"I wouldn't say difficult, no. Although the most unusual-looking character so far, has been the Iron Fist. But there are different illustrations of the Iron Fist. There are some that look very militaristic, kind of cool and edgy," Maslansky told Forbes. "The earlier illustrations have an incredibly seventies vibe. And there's a look when he wears cargo pants and a tight shirt, with the emblem emblazoned on the shirt. We did something like that, not with the shirt but with the tattoo on his chest. But I drew my inspiration from the classic look, mostly."
Iron Fist is the fourth Netflix series Maslansky has been the costume designer on, having previously worked the other three Marvel Cinematic Universe Netflix original series — and the end isn't in sight just yet. She's also working on The Defenders.
"It's been interesting, combining all these different characters and their looks together. We've kept them all fairly distinctive throughout each series. They each have their own look and style," said Maslansky. "They all come together for a common cause, but their worlds are very distinctive from one another. And I'm not allowed to say anything more than that."
