The cast of Sony's Venom movie is continuing to be announced, and it's safe to say that fans are a little surprised by its newest addition.
News came out earlier today that Jenny Slate has been cast in the film in a mystery scientist role. While Slate has made forays into drama (including the awards-season favorite Obvious Child), many know her from the world of comedy and animation, making her casting a little unconventional.
Fans have taken to Twitter to react the casting, and the reactions have generally pretty positive. Some are bewildered by her role in the dark, gritty film, while others are just pleasantly surprised by the film's growing ensemble cast. And some, as you would expect, are making jokes to Slate's previous projects, namely Parks and Recreation.

I don't even LIKE Venom. Doesn't matter what version/medium. Not even in MvC. But Tom Hardy/Riz Ahmed/Michelle Williams/Jenny Slate?

Apparently Jenny Slate is in the Venom movie, but it’s not as Mona-Lisa Saperstein, so I don’t care— PsikcVmpreRepellent (@GigawattConduit) October 3, 2017
