They may be everywhere and sometimes annoying, but Pidgeys are actually more useful than you may have realized. Spawning left and right and having a very low candy cost to evolve, Pidgeys are easy to catch in high quantities and evolve for 500 XP.
Here’s the extra trick: use a Lucky Egg to double the XP of each evolution.
Let’s do some math…
Catching one Pidgey offers you 3 Pidgey Candies. Transferring it to Professor Oak gets you one more. This means each Pidgey is worth 4 Pidgey Candies. Three pidgeys gets you enough to transfer another.
The Lucky Egg runs for 30 minutes. Evolving a Pokemon takes about 30 seconds. That means, at optimum speed with no errors, server crashes, or freezes, you can potentially evolve 60 Pokemon in the Lucky Egg’s run time. To evolve 60 Pidgeys, you’ll need 720 Pidgey Candies, so you’ll have to catch 180 Pidgeys to equal that amount plus the sixty leftover to evolve in that time frame.
Long story short, catch 240 Pidgeys, transfer 180 of them, activate a Lucky Egg and evolve 60 Pidgeys in 30 minutes. The Pidgey Grind will earn you the quickest and easiest 60,000 XP in Pokemon GO, assuming you don’t have any other Pokemon ready to evolve for the first time which would be worth even more.
