Despite a critical backlash, Suicide Squad continues to silence its naysayers with a stellar box office pull. The film opened to a record-breaking $260 million before a sudden slump derailed it the next weekend. However, the plunge leveled out, allowing the film to gross over $600 million worldwide by the end of August thanks to a healthy overseas reaction. Now, Suicide Squad can call itself a peer to other lucrative titles like Star Wars and Harry Potter. The super-villain flick has officially entered the Top 100 Highest-Grossing Movies of All Time at the worldwide box office.

At number 92, Suicide Squad has earned over $672 million internationally. It wasn't long ago director David Ayer took to Twitter to thank fans for helping Suicide Squad hit $600 million worldwide. Ayer posted his thanks on August 25 which means the film has earned over $60 million in 10 days. That's not too shabby for a film with a 26% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Of course, the film's negative reviews never foretold Suicide Squad's doom. Fans of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) were eager to see the film's all-star cast suit up, and various organizations praised the cast's diversity. As such, moviegoers have reacted far more positively to Suicide Squad than professional critics, and the film even holds at composite score of 4.3 stars here at ComicBook.com.

Warner Bros. surely is pleased by the film's latest achievement as Suicide Squad is one of the earliest entries to the DCEU. Wonder Woman will act as the universe's next installment with The Justice League set to follow. As far as box office numbers go, Suicide Squad has already overtaken the worldwide gross for Man of Steel ($668 million). However, it doesn't seem likely that DC Entertainment's latest flick will overcome any of their previous titles. The next closest DCEU title sits at 47 with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($827 million).

And, what's more, it seems Suicide Squad did some damage to Marvel Studios' celebrated cinematic universe. The film's entrance into the Top 100 list knocked Thor: The Dark World out of the ranking with its $644 million grossing. So, in this case, it seems that good guys do really finish last.

In Suicide Squad, it feels good to be bad...Assemble a team of the world's most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government's disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren't picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it's every man for himself? This third installment of the DC Extended Universe is written and directed by David Ayer and stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood and Cara Delevingne.
