Earlier this year, fans were introduced to the quirky man that is Captain Boomerang. The DC Comics villain made his big-screen debut in Suicide Squad, and audiences fell for the Australian man's charms. Sadly, audiences didn't get to see all of the baddie's hidden tricks and gadgets when the blockbuster premiered, but now fans have learned that at least one fabled weapon is canon in the DC Extended Universe.

So, when do you guys think the villain will whip out his Rocket Boomerage in theaters?

Over on Reddit, a keen-eyed user called GregorF92 spotted the obscure reference while watching the movie. A screenshot of Amanda Waller's case file on Captain Boomerang confirm that he's used his Rocket Boomerang on the Flash.

If you are not familiar with the Rocket Boomerang, then you are missing out. The fantastical weapon is one of Captain Boomerang's greatest achievements, and it's as impressive as it sounds. The weapon is a giant rocket-ladened boomerang which the villain ties the Flash to in hopes of jettisoning him out to space.

Obviously, the crook's plan is foiled by Central City's notorious speedster, but Captain Boomerang at least thought out-of-the-box for this weapon.

Moviegoers were not shown the Rocket Boomerang during Suicide Squad, but they did get to see a few of Captain Boomerang's toys up close. Some may laugh at his arsenal, but Captain Boomerang is an expert smith who can craft up some seriously deadly boomerang with the right materials.

Richard Suckle, producer on Suicide Squad, talked to ComicBook.com about Courtney's character and the villain's trick boomerang during a set visit last summer.

"Jai Courtney, Captain Boomerang. A great actor and a great guy. One of the fun things about this character is that I've not seen every film Jai has made but I've probably seen most of them and I don't think he's ever been able to play a role that allows him to really be funny and he's incredibly funny. You can just look at him and I'm sure the way you would describe him without me telling you what he does in the movie would probably be very close to what I'm about to say. He is a wise ass. He's a hunk to a certain extent and he's got an incredible wise-cracking sense of humor. At the same time, he is equally dangerous and has these very dangerous boomerangs, one of which he's holding. Now there is a boomerang that is actually a drone boomerang, which plays a role in the movie. He's just a fun character that shakes things up and also has a level of unpredictability as well."

So, who knows? Maybe fans will get to see a version of the rumored weapon in a later DC Extended Universe film like, say, The Flash? Jai Courtney has said he'd love to reprise his role as Captain Boomerang, so a short cameo might be in order?
