The HBO documentary about Debbie Reynolds and her daughter Carrie Fisher, Bright Lights, will now air on January 7, 2017, instead of mid-March as originally planned. The new date comes after the sudden and untimely deaths of both actresses earlier this week, HBO announced via a press release Friday.

Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds is directed by Alexis Blom and Fisher Stevens, and premiered last year at Canne Film Festival. It’s a very open look at their relationship, both during the years when they were somewhat combative and estranged, to their resolution less than a decade ago and the “loving interdependence” they shared. As if to underline that sentiment, Reynolds died the day after Fisher, with her last words being “I want to be with Carrie.”
The official synopsis of the documentary reads:
“The story of a family’s complicated love, this documentary is an intimate portrait of Hollywood royalty in all its eccentricity. Carrie Fisher and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, live in the same Beverly Hills compound. The 83-year-old grand dame still has a Las Vegas act, but performing is taking its toll. Carrie’s response is both hilarious and heart-rending. Featuring vintage family films that bring iconic old-world Hollywood to life, as well as extensive vรฉritรฉ footage, the film is directed by Alexis Bloom and Fisher Stevens.”
Carrie Fisher’s 2010 special Wishful Drinking is currently on HBO GO, HBO Now, and On Demand, and will air on HBO on January 1 at 9 p.m.
