It's a great time to be alive for anime fans as every day it seems like more and more anime are being added to popular streaming sites such as Crunchyroll and Funimation.

American fans are able to watch to watch popular anime under an hour after they premiere in Japan, and Studio Ghibli created their first kids show for Amazon. But samurai fans hold on to your katanas because Crunchyroll announced that the Gintama Season 4 will be available to stream on Sunday, Jan. 8th. The anime has attracted such a large following that it has two feature length films, a videogame, multiple light novels and live-action film slated to premiere in 2017.

Gintama is a well loved anime about a world where aliens have invaded Japan during the Edo period. The story follows Gintoki Sakata, an eccentric samurai who teams up with a teen (Shinpachi Shimura), to save his sister. They work together as freelance and do odd-jobs in order to pay rent, and the two of them end up adding one more to the crew, a young alien girl named Kagura, and the three become known as Yorozuya and become known as people who will do anything for money. They end up getting in all sorts of hilarious hijinks and comedic adventures along the way.

The series has met controversy because of a defamatory depiction of a character that referenced a specific politician in Japan. It resulted in a cancellation of its rerun, and doubts of a DVD release of the story arc in question. The scene in question is from the first episode of season 3, which was a parody of a memorable event which involved Japan's Hyougo Prefecture assemblyman, Ryutaro Nonomura. Essentially there was a press conference where he cried about a political scandal he was involved with, and in instantly become an internet meme. Unlike in America, where political parodies are common practice, it is often unheard of in Japan, and the parody came as a shock and caused many reactions across social media. Many fans are elated at the news of the new season being simulcast on Crunchyroll, and excited to see what new controversies are to come with Season 4.
