Steve Trevor has played an important part in the Wonder Woman mythos, and actor Chris Pine will be tasked with bringing the character's charm, physicality, and humor to the big screen in the upcoming film.
That includes a few scenes before he ever meets Wonder Woman, and a new photo from the film shows him next to favorite plane (via Continental Film). While it could be from later in the film, it appears to be before he engages in a dogfight that will ultimately land him on Themyscira, and eventually bring him face to face with Diana. Last year Pine described the difference between Wonder Woman and other films of its ilk to Jimmy Kimmel. "It takes place in World War I. I think what's really neat about it, is that with all of the Thors and Captain Kirks - I feel like, with men at the helm, it's always a revenge cycle thing. It's an eye for an eye, 'we're going to get the bad guys' and then the bad guys are defeated," he said explaining the differences with this film. "What I think is really lovely, with having a woman at the helm of this, there's a great deal more compassion and love at the center of the story, which for something as big as a film that this is going to be, and the eyes that will watch it, I think it's a wonderful - the little bit we can do to hopefully inch this universe toward not being as aggressive and violent."
Wonder Woman hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action-adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins and is written by Allan Heinberg, Geoff Johns, and Zack Snyder. The film stars Gal Gadot (Diana Prince/Wonder Woman), Chris Pine (Steve Trevor), Robin Wright (General Antiope), Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta), David Thewlis, Elena Anaya, Lucy Davis (Etta Candy), Danny Huston, Ewen Bremmer, Doutzen Kroes, Samantha Jo (Euboea), Florence Kasumba (Senator Acantha), Said Taghmaoui, Eleanor Matsuura (Epione), Emily Carey (Young Diana), and Lisa Loven Kongsli (Menalippe).
