Kickstarter game sometimes pick up a bit more traction than they anticipated, an unexpected success that sometimes causes some issues at launch due to the sheer amount of players that join in. Friday the 13th: The Game is no exception to this trend, but the team behind the game says they’re doing everything they can to smooth out server issues.

After the game was released on May 26, a Friday, no less, the weekend release that felt seemingly fitting brought on a wave of weekend players that proved to be a bit more than the servers that the small-scale team has could handle. Wes Keltner, the co-creator of the game and founder of developer/publisher Gun Media, tweeted on Friday that the game was already handling over 50,000 concurrent players across the multiple platforms the game was released on.
The slasher-style survival horror game pits seven players as camp counselors against one player who’s controlling the iconic Jason Voorhees, but players are having a bit of trouble filling out the 8-man cast as they encounter database login errors, party creation problems, and other gameplay issues.
But the team behind the game clearly has no plans of saving their own hides and leaving their players to fall victim to the server issues. On Friday, they acknowledged some of the issues players were having, and they posted an update on their Kickstarter page that addressed some of the problems they’d notice and how they’d go about fixing them. Here’s a list of the major problems they planned to address:
- PS4 North America DLC codes are showing up as “Inactive”
- Some Xbox One Full Game Digital Codes were not delivered
- PS4 EU/AUS DLC Codes have not been received yet
- Steam DLC not showing up in game
- Steam Dedicated Server Downtime
- Hard to Quick Match on Steam Version in the EU
- Not Enough Dedicated Australia Game Servers on Steam
- Steam Backend Profile Database Servers Being Upgraded
- Friday the 13th: The Game is not available in the PS4 Asia Region yet
It may seem like quite a few issues for a game’s release, but they’ve been diligent about responding to their players’ frustrations on Twitter.
Different members of the team work on different aspects; not everyone can do everything, but we can make headway where able. https://t.co/EBpQFOgDsZ

The Friday the 13th: the Game team responded all throughout Saturday with answers such as these that politely reassured fans that they were doing their best to keep the servers afloat. They weren’t able to give an ETA as to when the game would be free of server issues, but they, and players, hope that it will come quickly.
