A month before she tragically passed away, Carrie Fisher released a memoir of her time while filming the original Star Wars movie. “The Princess Diarist” was based on the diaries she kept during the production, and it went into detail about her affair with Harrison Ford.

Now the Han Solo actor broke his silence about Fisher’s book, in which she details the relationship that occurred while Ford was married with two children.

Ford was asked about Fisher and her book during an interview with GQ and was unsurprisingly private about his opinion.

“It was strange. For me.”

Did you have any advance warning?

“Um, to a degree. Yes.”

And what did you think?

“Oh, I don’t know. I don’t know. You know, with Carrie’s untimely passing, I don’t really feel that it’s a subject that I want to discuss.”

Can I ask you whether you’d prefer that it hadn’t been written?

“Yes. You can ask me.”

Do you want to answer?

“No.”

Can I ask you whether you read it?

“No. I didn’t.”

Fisher opened up about the affair when the book released in November 2016. Given that it had been a secret for over 40 years, it was a shock to even the most diehard Star Wars fans who thought they knew everything about the movie.

The late actor only gave a few interviews on the topic before she ultimately passed, and Ford was unsurprisingly quiet about the whole thing. The fact that he even addressed the topic is somewhat surprising, despite not saying much about it at all.

Fisher and Ford played the iconic star-crossed couple for four different Star Wars movies, giving them a happy ending in Return of the Jedi but ultimately revealing it wasn’t meant to be in The Force Awakens.

But their chemistry remained strong on the screen, giving fans one last chance to see Han Solo and Leia Organa in the relationship that helped define the Star Wars saga.
