Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is set to start filming next month filmmaker Kevin Smith is hard at work scouting for the upcoming film while treating fans to an update that as much a flash forward as it is a throwback.

Smith took to Twitter yesterday evening to share a photo of himself behind the counter of Quick Stop, but the filmmaker wasn't reliving his youth or even just getting nostalgic about Clerks. Instead, Smith was scouting.

"In an alternate reality, I'm still only working at Quick Stop," Smith wrote. "But today, I only visited the home of Clerks to scout for #JayAndSilentBobReboot!"

Smith, who is well beyond his Quick Stop days and has been busy in recent years directing episodes of The CW's Arrowverse shows, including Supergirl and The Flash among other projects, announced the return to his Askewniverse back in February. At the time, Smith explained that while he loves his work with, as he put it "someone else's new toys" he had missed his own creations.

"So I don't own Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy or Dogma... But I DO own Jay and Silent Bob," Smith wrote. "So while I love playing with someone else's new toys on The Flash and Supergirl, I'm getting eager to play with my old toys again in the inter-connected View Askewniverse I spent the first half of my career creating. And so all last month, I had the time of my life laughing while writing Jay and Silent Bob Reboot — a fun flick in which the Jersey boys have to go back to Hollywood to stop a brand new reboot of the old Bluntman & Chronic Movie they hated so much."

The film will feature Smith reprising his role as Silent Bob alongside Jason Mewes who will return as Jay. Brian O'Halloran, who played Dante Hicks in Clerks as well as multiple other characters in Smith's Askewniverse, is also set to be a part of the film. And Mewes told ComicBook.com last month that Smith has reached out to other familiar faces to participate in the film.

"I don't know what I can talk about, what Kevin would get upset about or not get upset about," Mewes said. "There's definitely some fun things: a lot of the people who were in the other movies, Kevin has spoken with a bunch of people from Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, and people are going to come back in. There's some more Bluntman & Chronic stuff going down. There's a lot of fun stuff and a few new, really interesting things that I shouldn't mention."
