First Look At Vincent D'Onofrio As The Kingpin In Daredevil

Jamie Lovett

Marvel Studios and Netflix have released the first image of Vincent D’Onofrio as the Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. the Kingpin, in the Daredevil television series.

According to USA Today, the Kingpin of the Netflix series will be different than the Kingpin of the Marvel Comics Universe. This Kingpin shares goals with Daredevil, wanting to clean up New York City, but goes about it using very different methods. The series will be as much an origin story for Fisk as it is for Matt Murdock.

Despite the differences, D’Onofrio has been studying up on the character’s comic book appearances in order to get a feel for the character. He also shaved his head and added some weight to match the character’s look.

"I wanted him to have an appearance of being super-powerful so that when he throws a punch, it's a major punch," D'Onofrio says. "There's a lot of weight behind it."

Daredevil premieres on Netflix on April 10. See both full images in the gallery below.
