Madoka Magica Spin-Off RPG Debuts Brand-New Magical Girl Team

If you were a fan of Puella Magi Madoka Magica, then it's about time you checked the Internet. The seemingly innocent anime made its debut a few years back to critical praise, and fans were left gobsmacked by its dark overtones. The gritty magical girl series introduced fans to a slew of young students who contracted their services to become powerful witches. However, as the series went on, each of the heroines soon learned how much they'd have to sacrifice to become magical girls. And, now, a brand-new team of witches are about to be brought into the franchise.

Thanks to Shaft, fans have gotten a first-look at the new characters of Puella Magi Madoka Magica's spin-off game. The narrative RPG Magia Record will put players in a new team of wannabe witches and have them guide the girls on an adventure to save a fallen friend.

In Magia Record, fans meet a new protagonist named Iroha who goes on a search for his sister Ui after she goes missing in Kamihama. It is in the city that Iroha meets Madoka who is also looking for a missing Homura. The new trailer gives fans a better look at Iroha's fiery powers and transformations.

If you are not familiar with Puella Magi Madoka Magica, then you can probably already tell the series is not like your typical magical girl series. The anime debuted back in January 2011 and quickly became one of the most popular franchises both in the U.S. and abroad. Puella Magi Madoka Magica follows a group of magical girls as they battle dangerous witches who will not hesitate to brutally slaughter their enemies. Pitted against untold dangers, the girls quickly learn how horrifying life is for so-called heroes as they face death, grief, and wrenching anguish in their fight to escape Kyubey's curse.

After its release, Puella Magi Madoka Magica became a stunner amongst the anime fandom. It experience unprecedented commercial success and its manga has sold well over 50,000 copies since the anime debuted. Having won a slew of awards abroad, Puella Magi Madoka Magica left fans in awe of its heartbreaking trope subversions, and its gore was more than enough to make fans do a double-take.
