Cowboy Bebop Live Action TV Series On The Horizon

Cowboy Bebop is regarded as one of the most influential anime series of all time. The series is often talked about among the anime world, and according to fans and critics alike, is one of the best anime series of all time. Created in 1998, the sci-fi western has had international success and global reach. According to multiple sources, Tomorrow Studios is currently working on a live action television adaptation of the anime.

The live action Cowboy Bebop is set to be produced by Sunrise Inc., which is the studio responsible for the original animated version as well. Surise will be working with Midnight Radio(Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Jeff Pinkner & Scott Rosenberg), Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, and Matthew Weinberg, and the adaptation is set to be written by Chris Yost.

If you are unfamiliar with Cowboy Bebop, the show was first premiered by Sunrise in Japan 1998 and ran for 26 episodes. The action and plot twists present in Cowboy Bebop are considered high-points of anime storytelling, and its exploration of themes like loneliness and existentialism are what pushed the show to its global success. The series introduced a new wave of American audience to anime as it was aired on Adult Swim. Crunchyroll describes the story below:

The Bebop crew is just trying to make a buck. This motley lot of intergalactic loners teams up to track down fugitives and turn them in for cold hard cash. Spike is a hero whose cool façade hides a dark and deadly past. The pilot Jet is a bruiser of a brute who can’t wait to collect the next bounty. Faye Valentine is a femme fatale prone to breaking hearts and separating fools from their money. Along for the ride are the brilliant, but weird, hacker Ed and a super-genius Welsh Corgi named Ein.

This is not spin off of the popular series, as There was a Cowboy Bebob film that was released back in 2001, that was titled Cowboy Bebop: The Movie. The original series was the first anime to be broadcast on the popular Adult Swim.

Tomorrow Studios is also in the process of creating another U.S. TV adaptation of a popular Asian title, Snowpiercer. The popular South Korean movie will be premiering on TNT next year.
