One of Studio Ghibli’s ex-directors decided to step away and start his own solo project. Hiromasa Yonebayashi (known for The Secret World of Arrietty), is working on his new project apart from Studio Ghibli, the film Mary and The Witch’s Flower. The film released its third trailer showing off the magic inside the films new world, which looks very inspired by Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli’s unique style.
The new trailer teased the film’s theme song “RAIN”, by the Japanese musical group SEKAI NO OWARI. It also showed off the films magical world, which looks beautiful and enchanting in every way.

Many anime series and films are based off of manga or novels, but the upcoming film from Yonebayashi and team is actually based off a British children novel The Little Broomstick. It will follow a girl named Mary as she The film’s story is summarized by MAL below:
It is Tib the black cat who leads Mary to the strange flower in the woods. When she discovers a little broomstick shortly afterwards, she is astonished to feel it jump into action. Before she can gather her wits, it is whisking her over the treetops, above the clouds, and into the grounds of Endor College, where: “All Examinations Coached for by A Competent Staff of Fully-Qualified Witches.” Here she discovers evidence of a terrible experiment in transformationโdeformed and mutant animals imprisoned in cages. In the moment after her broomstick takes off, she realizes that Tib has been captured. Returning to the College the following day, she manages to free the animals, but not before the Head of the college, Miss Mumblechook, and her colleague, Doctor Dee, have seen her. Mary manages to flee …but the evil pair are in hot pursuit!
