If you are unfamiliar with the award-winning film, Animatsu Entertainment describes it below,

In 1944, Suzu Urano moves to the small town of Kure in Hiroshima where she marries Shuusaku Houjouโ€”a young clerk who works at the local naval base. Living with his family, Suzu becomes essential to the running of the household and creatively prepares meals during the tough wartime conditions while also carrying out daily housework. In 1945, intense bombings by the U.S. military finally reach Kure with devastating effect to the townsfolk and their way of life. Suzu’s life is changed irrevocably, but through perseverance and courage, she manages to continue to live life to the fullest.

The film is based an award-winning Japanese manga by Fumiyo Kouno. It was first released in Japan in November of last year, and earned over 2 billion yen while in the theaters. Thanks to beautiful hand-drawn animation, and the emotional storytelling, In The Corner Of The World won multiple awards, such as the following: the Fujimoto Award, the Daijin Prize from the Agency for Cultural Affairs, the Hiroshima Peace Film Award at the Hiroshima International Film Festival, Kinema Jumpo magazine’s best Japanese movie of the year, and the Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year.

In The Corner Of The World will be premiering in U.S. cinemas on August 11, thanks to Shout! Factory Films & Funimation Films. It will be shown in the original Japanese with English Subtitles, but some theaters will also have an English dub as well. The film will release in major U.S. theaters, and the new trailer for the American release can be seen above.
