Dragon Ball knows what it takes to last a long time, and fans hoping the franchise’s newest anime only expands on the lesson. Dragon Ball Super debuted just over two years ago, and it has two arcs under its belt with five sagas to match. The ‘Universal Survival’ arc is still going on as of right now, and fans think the anime’s latest episode may have hinted at the show’s next arc.

Over the weekend, Dragon Ball Super debuted its 112th episode. The release focused on Cabba as the Universe 6 Saiyan relearned what his race’s pride meant all because of Vegeta. Right when the younger fighter was about to get knocked out of the Tournament of Power, Vegeta saved him and asked Cabba if he would really give up so easily. The elder questioned if the boy would really break a promise he made to Vegeta, and fans were as taken aback by the reminder as Cabba was.

After all, it’s not like Vegeta to walk down memory lane without good reason.

Dragon Ball Super‘s “Universal Survival” saga is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. Dragon Ball Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturdays at 7:15 p.m. CST. Toonami airs the English dub on Adult Swim Saturdays at 11:30 p.m.

Remember Whenโ€ฆ?

Thanks to Vegeta, fans were reminded when Cabba made a solemn promise to his master involving Universe 6. The pair first met during the ‘Universe 6’ saga, and Vegeta fought with Cabba during the event. After helping the boy go Super Saiyan, Vegeta won the battle easily by going Super Saiyan God, but the elder did challenge his disciple to one day become stronger than him.

Tearing up, Cabba told Vegeta that he reminded the younger boy of his home’s planet. Universe 6 still has the Saiyan home world of Sadala thriving, and its king was described by Cabba as being smart and wise like Vegeta. As the elder walked away from their battle, Vegeta told Cabba he looks forward to meeting the planet’s ruler when the boy can introduce him.

Dragon Ball Super‘s flashback to the moment was broken when Cabba said the Tournament of Power may make his promise impossible. Vegeta countered by promising he would revive Universe 6 if he won the Super Dragon Balls so Cabba could keep his word, and fans are thinking Vegeta’s interest in Planet Sadala may indicate that the anime’s next arc will revolve around Universe 6 and 7’s mirror ties.

What Else?

Dragon Ball Super has plenty of room to play with storylines involving its omni-verse. Fans find that Universe 6 provides some particularly interesting fodder because of its ties to Goku’s world, but there are other avenues which the anime could explore next.

In light of the Tournament of Power, some fans are speculating whether the show will explore Goku and the way his powers are growing similar to those of a God of Destruction. Others believe that Freeza will reemerge from Dragon Ball Super’s current saga by somehow commandeering the Gods for himself. And, for some very patient fans, they are hoping the series will finally find a way to bring Cell back into the picture. After all, if Freeza and Buu can make their own comeback, why can’t the android?
