The Freeza clan has seen many canon and non-canon additions over the years, but did you know that it was bigger than you ever thought? Because Freeza, in fact, has a son fans haven't thought about in quite some time.

The first inkling of Freeza's son came about in the West when Dragon Ball Z Budokai 2 was releasing for video game consoles, and fans realized that the Japanese version of the game came with an extra skin for Freeza, a squat, brown character with a chestnut shaped head. This character, was in fact Freeza's son named Kuriza.

Kuriza's name is a pun based off of "kuri" which translates as "chestnut" and is a joke based off of his chestnut shaped head. He's obviously much shorter than Freeza, and slightly resembles the rest of Freeza's family, Freeza, Cooler, King Cold, and Chill.

Kuriza officially made his debut as part of the Neko Majin manga. Neko Majin was gag manga that Toriyama released shortly after the end of Dragon Ball and became a Dragon Ball Z parody as the manga went on. With his gag manga origin, his personality differed majorly from his father as well.

Not necessarily evil, he wasn't given a chance to show off his skills either. One of the gags in the chaoter he appeared in had him reacting to the fact it was so short, and ended before he got serious. Though he's more comedic than his father, his vanity is just as severe.

Dragon Ball Super's "Universal Survival" arc is part of the recent simulcast agreement that sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation have scored. DragonBall Super airs on Crunchyroll Saturday evenings at 7:15 p.m. CST. Adult Swim airs the English dub during its Toonami block Saturday evenings at 9:30 p.m, and is now available to stream on FunimationNOW and Amazon Video.

There is also currently a new Dragon Ball film in the works for 2018. The film will focus on the Saiyans, the "origins of Goku's power," and potentially the story of the very first Super Saiyan God. Not only does it aim to be the best film in the series, original creator Akira Toriyama will be contributing to the film's script and new character designs.
