Sunmi & Uhm Jung Hwa – “Poison”
Sunmi made a comeback in 2017 with “Gashina”, and the former Wonder Girls idol proved her revived solo career is still on the up. For the 2017 SBS Gayo Awards, the singer teamed up with veteran Uhm Jung Hwa to perform a remix of the latter’s single “Poison”. The sultry stage had fans buzzing, and fan-cams of the performance show the sizzling hot chemistry between the two divas.
TWICE – “Likey”
These days, TWICE is the girl group to beat when it comes to k-pop. The pop group struck it big under JYP Entertainment, and their single “Likey” got audiences buzzing this weekend. The cheerful performance had strong vocals, intricate dance moves, and enough attitude to make any stan fall in love.
BlackPink – “So Hot”
SBS was all about throwbacks this year, and BlackPink had one of its best runs with the theme. The popular girl group performed its own take of “So Hot” which the Wonder Girls grew famous for. And, as you can see, the YG Entertainment ensemble killed their stage.
EXO – “Power”
EXO rounded out Christmas with an appropriately powerful stage featuring their hit single “Power”. The playful stage showed the SMTOWN group having a good time, and SBS managed to keep its cameras on the boys for most of their choreography. Each of EXO’s members got the screen time they needed, and their energetic performance balanced the band’s lengthy set.
BTS – “MIC Drop”
With 2017 coming to a close, it is hard to deny the rise BTS had during the last year. The group made international headlines for its breakout success in the U.S, but BTS took it back to basics for SBS. The group performed its original take of “MIC Drop” at the awards ceremony, and Suga boldly took a shot at netizens who dared to accuse BTS of lip syncing in the past.
