Naruto fans know the franchise is no stranger to drama, but Boruto just upped its ante with this week’s new episode. After arriving in the Hidden Mist Village, Boruto and his classmates have been put in one tricky situation. After all, Denki managed to get himself kidnapped.

Boruto‘s episode ended with a dark turn when Denki found himself out in the Mist Village late at night. The ninja noticed a flicking light while hauling some weaponry, and Denki foolishly decided to see what was up. The journey led Denki into a poorly lit alleyway, and fans can’t say they were surprised when the boy managed to get himself kidnapped.

Later in the episode, fans find out just who’s behind the sudden kidnapping. The Bloody Mist Gang rounded up Denki in order to lure out Boruto. Fans met the troubling group when Konoha’s students first came to the Mist Village, and the gang’s leader was ordered to show the others how the Bloody Mist does things. Shizuma Hoshigaki, a member of Kisame’s clan, got his underlings to do as they were told – and Denki is the one suffering for it.

“Do you want to die?!” the gang leader asks Denki after the latter backtalks his captor.

“You don’t have the guts to kill me,” Denki answers, but the retort does not sit well with the Mist ninja.

“Shut up!” the older boy says. “Anyway, we have to beat the Hokage’s son to a pulp in order to salvage our reputation. You’re the bait! Got that?!”

The episode preview for Boruto’s next release promises to show the Hokage’s son fight for Denki. The clip sees Konoha’s top male students gather to stage a rescue attempt and beg their guide Kagura to keep the incident quiet. If word about the kidnapping spreads, tensions between the Leaf Village and Mist Village may rise. And, with Boruto being Naruto’s son, fans can see why the boy wouldn’t want such an outbreak to go down.
