BTS just made history with their latest award win! The group took home the top prize at the 32nd Golden Disk Awards, marking the first time BTS has won the coveted honor.
On January 11, BTS took to the stage at the Golden Disk Awards with one high-energy performance, and they returned to accept the ceremony's Daesang. The group won a Bonsang at the event's first night for their digital music sales, and they even won a second for physical music sales (via Soompi). However, all eyes were on BTS when they took home the Grand Prize.
Coming to the stage, BTS came to the stage looking more than excited. Leader RM greeted the audience by thanking the band's fans who are collectively known as ARMY.
"ARMY," RM called out. "You're watching, right? We really love you!"
Each of the members took turns giving their thanks at the podium. The idols made sure to thank fans and one another before giving nods to producers like Bang Shi Hyuk. However, the Internet is buzzing about Jungkook's unexpected turn at the microphone.
The singer, who is the youngest of BTS, is known for being shy at award shows. However, he took to the mic to thank his parents after promising to do so for his mother. Each of the BTS members looked surprised to see Jungkook head to the mic on his own, and Suga seemed particularly delighted by his bandmate's heartfelt comments.
Of course, BTS is not the only group to take home an award from the 32nd Golden Disk Awards. Bonsangs were also given to NU'EST, Super Junior, TWICE, EXO, MONSTA X, SEVENTEEN, GOT7, Girls' Generation, Taeyeon, and many more.
